RAMPAGE RADIO is a 6 hour Heavy Metal radio show founded by Howie Klein, Ian Kallen & Ron Quintana which aired on KUSF 90.3 FM in San Francisco every weekend from March 6,  1982 until January 16, 2011 and continues to appear weekly on KUSF In Exile. The early years of Rampage featured the heaviest bands from the UK NWOBHM scene, Europe & the worldwide metal underground along with classic '70s bands and the roots of metal going back to the late '60s. Legendary artists such as Mercyful Fate, Yngwie Malmsteen & Metallica sent demo tapes to Rampage in the early '80s, receiving their first airplay on this show when no one else was willing to take a chance, and we are proud to have introduced listeners to every new worthy development in metal that has emerged over the last 30 years. Rampage Radio is now into it's 4th decade of weekly broadcasts and we continue to play non-commercial metal to an enthusiastic worldwide audience.

INTERVIEW
Dj Margaret is joined in conversation with writers DAVID BUUCK, TOM COMITTA, and dancemaker ABBY CRAIN on their current projects and practice.

DAVID BUUCK is a writer and founder of BARGE, the Bay Area Research Group in Enviro-aesthetics, and co-founder and editor of Tripwire, a journal of poetics and art. His poetry, prose, essays, and artwork have been published and shown in a variety of contexts, from books to galleries to performance events. Buuck is a freelance editor and critic, and teaches writing at Bard, Mills College, among other art schools. He is an active member of Small Press Traffic, a bay area literary arts organization. Publications include THE SHUNT (Palm Press 2009) and Buried Treasure Island: a detour of the future (YBCA 2008). An Army of Lovers, co-written with Juliana Spahr, is forthcoming from City Lights.
He lives in Oakland.

ABBY CRAIN is a dancemaker and performer with roots in both the Bay Area and New York performance worlds. Her current work is neither spectacular nor breathtaking but rigorously pursues a drive towards simplicity as a means through which to illuminate and reveal the complexity and singularity of the moving body and the specific texture of live performance. While located within and around the traditional context of theater/ audience/ performance, the work diligently aims to question and upset the assumptions of these frameworks. She has presented work in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and has worked extensively with Miguel Gutierrez and Sara Shelton Mann. She teaches and makes work with Margit Galanter under the moniker “ARTWORKOUTS”, and is engaged in an ongoing collaboration around movement, language and performance with Bay Area poet, David Buuck.

TOM COMITTA lives in San Francisco. He is the publisher of calmaplombprombombbalm.com, an online publishing house of MEDIAted writing. His vowel-driven super cut of Allen Ginsberg’s HOWL titled Howl in Six Voices was exhibited in Robert Berman/E6 gallery’s Say Something! and in textsound.com Issue 11. Since 2011, Comitta has co-composed, co-conducted, and co-produced nine guerrilla operas with The San Francisco Guerrilla Opera Company. These operas have been staged in sites around the Bay Area including Adobe Bookshop, Civic Center BART, the Bay to Breakers route, and the Berkeley Art Museum. Last month, he produced “Bowling in Bowlers”, an afternoon of sound poetry and lawn bowling at The Oakland Lawn Bowling Club featuring Charlie Morrow, Maija-Leena Remes, friends, and strangers.

KUSF In Exile 06.23.12 9-10 AM Poet As Radio

POET AS RADIO is a new, weekly program on KUSF In Exile, airing Saturdays from 9am to 10am at www.savekusf.org. Jack Spicer said that the poet is not a creator, but a conduit, getting messages from an undefinable source to form the poem. He thought of a poet as a radio, broadcasting words. We like to think of POET AS RADIO as an opportunity for writers to broadcast their words as well.

FAB MAB LIVE REDUX is a collection of live tape recordings that were recorded, mixed & produced by Terry Hammer circa 1979 through 1981 for various Bay Area radio stations. The weekly program was originally called FAB MAB LIVE.This is your chance to go back in time to the period when it all began and enjoy the great punk bands who started it all. These recordings were recorded sitting in the loud venues with headphones on and mixing on a cheap Peavey 12 channel mixing board direct to 2 Track Reel To Reel. They reflect the way the bands sounded at the time, drunk, stoned, out of tune and sometimes in tune. So,sit back, tune in,turn on,and experience the thrill of being at the great punk venues back in the day when it all began. And since these shows were mixed on headphones, they also sound better listening to them with headphones on turned up LOUD! Most shows are less than an hour,so, the hour will be filled with a delicious mixture of old school punk & reggae, with a taste of motown & 60's garage bands to round out the program. For a complete list of my live recordings,go to my website at http://www.angelfire.com/oh/liveperformances/livetapes.html
