please tune in to Spotlight today 6 to 8 pm. I am re-broadcasting a new edit of the bloopers and mouthsounds Spotlight Cactus and I did a couple of years ago. I know we don't have many listeners but It would be nice even if only some of you would tune in. As I was editing it it made me very nostalgic to hear the voices of some of the DJs who are not Djing at KUSF anymore like Jet, Office Mic, Troy, etc. These are the voices of those DJs who actually came in studio C and recorded their voice for a promo, or underwriting message or a PSA. It is also a homage to Spotlight, as many of the bloopers are from various spotlight promos.

A two hour set of Folk, Acoustic, Flat Picking, Traditional, Bluegrass, Contemporary, and everything else related with waking up in a relaxed way to get the Sunday started off. Originally a radio show that was on WKSU, with Kerry Blech in the 70's, which led to the Folk Alley that we hear now.

This by no means is an in depth tribute to the late, great Bert Jansch, who died of lung cancer in a London hospice this last Wednesday one month short of his 68th birthday. This podcast is somewhat of a Whitman's sampler of his works compressed into a two-hour show. The full tribute, which is in the works, will appear on my 360 Sound Show website. The estimated length will be a paltry 480 minutes and even still it won't cover all his albums, either solo or with The Pentangle. Anyhoo, here's the short version, as it was broadcast on KUSF In Exile Sunday, October 9, 2011.
"Careless Love" & "I Am Lonely, I Am Lost" (ca. 1964) "Strolling Down The Highway" (1965) "Lucky Thirteen" (1965) John Renbourn "Blue Bones" (1965) "Blackwaterside" (1966) "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" (1966) "Box Of Love" (1967)
Pentangle "Bells" (1968) "Sweet Child" (1968) "Train Song" (1969) "Poison" (1969) "Rosemary Lane" (1971) Pentangle "When I Come Home" (1971) "Jump Baby Jump" (1972) "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (1973)
"Chambertin" (1974) "Blues Run The Game" (1975) "Three Chord Trick" (1976) "Kingfisher" (1978) "Let Me Sing" (1979) Pentangle "Lost Love" (1983) "The Open Sea" (1985) "If You're Thinking 'Bout Me Babe" (1985)
"Needle Of Death" (1990) "Ornament Tree (Bonny Portmore)" (1990) "Morning Brings Peace Of Mind" (1995) "Carnival" (1998) "Quiet Joys Of Brotherhood" (2002) "Empty Pocket Blues" (2006)
RAMPAGE RADIO is a 6 hour Heavy Metal radio show founded by Howie Klein, Ian Kallen & Ron Quintana which has aired on KUSF 90.3 FM in San Francisco every weekend since 1982. The early years of Rampage featured the heaviest bands from the UK NWOBHM scene, Europe & the worldwide metal underground along with classic '70s bands and the roots of metal going back to the late '60s. Legendary artists such as Mercyful Fate, Yngwie Malmsteen & Metallica sent demo tapes, receiving their first airplay on this show when no one else was willing to take a chance, and we are proud to have introduced listeners to every new worthy development in metal that has emerged over the last 30 years. 2011 marks the beginning of our 4th decade of weekly broadcasts and we continue to play the latest non-commercial metal to an enthusiastic worldwide audience.

INTERVIEW
DJ Margaret is joined with artist MATT BORRUSO and writer NICK HOFF on their newly opened book project SCANNERS, a temporary bookstore located at 312 Valencia Street in San Francisco (in Mina Dresden Gallery) open Oct 1-31, Tuesday-Sunday, noon-8pm. Visit their website for a listing of resources and events at scannersproject.com.
MATT BORRUSO is a visual artist, bibliophile, and San Francisco native. His recent solo shows include The Hermit’s Revenge Fantasy at Steven Wolf Fine Arts and Return to Holy Mountain at 2nd Floor Projects in San Francisco. His work has been widely exhibited at venues such as the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery and the Headlands Center for the Arts in the Bay Area, Anna Kustera, Derek Eller and the Manhattan Cultural Council in New York, and more recently Exile Projects in Berlin among others. Borruso currently lives and works in San Francisco.
NICK HOFF is a writer, translator, and bookseller. His work has appeared in various journals, including Telos, Fifth Wednesday, and Left Curve, and his translations of scholarly works have been published in The Journal of Modern History and in several books. Odes and Elegies, his book of translations of Friedrich Hölderlin’s poetry, was published by Wesleyan University Press in 2008. Hoff lives and works in San Francisco.
SCANNERS is a month-long used bookstore project that highlights the book as a physical object in an increasingly dematerialized world. Our work with used books originated—and continues—in the salvage culture of the flea market, where we have supplied readers and artists with literature, non-fiction, and visual source material for over a decade. Scanners grows from this experience and takes the transient nature of the flea market site indoors for a short-term experiment in duration. With idiosyncratic materials and categories, and an emphasis on face out display, Scanners is also a proposal: one possibility for what a future bookstore might be. Scanners will focus in part on visual culture, including art, architecture, and craft, as well as print-based media for use as source material. Other sections—on theory, counterculture, and technologies of the word, among others—will sit alongside vintage punk rock fanzines, VHS tapes and obscure ephemera. Events at the store will examine topics in contemporary print culture, including: the printed image as source and inspiration; the changing nature of the reading experience; the future of the archive; the role of the internet in the search for knowledge and as an arbiter of value; and, despite the rise of the digital, the continued explosion of printed matter.
